Boost Productivity with This Ground and Focus Meditation

Want to boost your productivity? This is a focusing tool that you can work with any time you need to get focused, like the beginning of a workday or between tasks.

It includes a quick meditation to focus intent + Earth connection to align your body/energy. The concept? Just before work (or in between ‘tasks), take 10-20 minutes and do this activity get yourself streamlined and focused. Even though it can feel tough to ‘find time’, you wind up saving it because you are more focused. * Not to mention, this is a great one for the self care routine that includes a body+energy body+ spirit component that gets all three at once.

Meet My Halifax Thinking Tree

This is a tree that used to be about a five minute walk away from my office. Even before I really ‘knew’ what I was doing, I would faithfully bring myself to sit at its base at the beginning and the end of my day to help myself get focused. I felt like sitting here helped me push away all the things happening outside of work.

Even though I do not get to see this gorgeous tree anymore, I still make a routine habit of making direct Earth connection. I am writing this post to you because even though it sounds so simple – this REALLY WORKS.

BETTER THAN THAT:

  • it is not complicated
  • it allows for energy exchange with the planet
  • it gives opportunity to separate between ‘work’ and ‘outside work life’ if needed
  • it helps you bring your energy body & physical body into alignment
  • setting goals while in this grounded and connected state helps draw your energy aka focus toward them

Here is a simple process that you might like to work with to bring this tip into your own life.

Here is How

Get outside and find yourself a spot where you are able to make direct Earth contact with your hand, feet, or back of your head. This is a key component.

  • put your feet or hands in the grass or sit with a tree *make contact with nature somehow with your hand or foot*
  • notice your connection point – know that through this connection, you are stabilizing your energy & helping bring yourself into focus (you may even feel buzzing)
  • while there, slow down your breath. Put your focus on the inhalation, holding and exhalation

set the intention to get focused and bring your best self toward your day:

(suggestions)

  • pleasant interactions
  • creativity to projects
  • leaving something going on at home ‘at home’
  • bringing your best self to the day
  • having the wisdom to
  • having patience and love for family or people you care for
  • whatever is important to you! This is your life

How to Know This is Working

Earth is subtle. You are not always going to necessarily ‘feel’ the impact of what you are doing in the moment (though sometimes you can). Here are some suggestions on how you may like to reflect on your experience post-connection exercise to see if it brought you any benefits:

  • notice how you felt during the day
  • do this 2 – 3 times in a week and see if you notice a difference as you build up with more repetitions
  • observe if there are any differences in your energy level, ability to focus, or how you feel

Get Out there and find a tree friend or cozy nature space that you can try this in

As you go about observing yourself, you will no doubt notice that nature connection mixed with meditation does enhance your ability to focus and stay connected to your calm core, no matter what you are doing.

Enjoy getting out there. Though it can feel almost crazy to take time away from the desk, as you will see: well placed moments make a wealth of difference. When you are more grounded, more centered, and more YOU – you fly through the work tasks in a way that is much more difficult when feeling frazzled or distracted.
