The Solstice Reset: A Simple Ritual for Grounded Self-Connection

Planet Earth is engaged in a cosmic dance, and as an empath, your energy field feels every single step. When major celestial bodies come into alignment, things get “amped up.”

Sunday, June 21st is Solstice. In esoteric terms, this is always an excellent moment to honor yourself and invoke the power of these alignments to help steer and direct your life. This Solstice represents a powerful transition point—a moment where we are able to experience increased soul growth, ask questions, set goals, and call energy into our path. These are also moments to step back and show gratitude for your life and how far you have come in the journey.

You may have noticed emotions rising these past ten days or perhaps been blessed with realizations or truths that have been hiding in plain sight. It is common for things to “come up,” “come apart,” and come up for further understanding in the window of this sacred time.

This article contains a short solstice ritual that you are able to work with to draw this out into your life.

Solstice is an Ancient Part of Us

Solstice celebrations (along with Equinox) are an ancient part of the human tradition that has been observed in all continents except perhaps Antarctica dating back at least 12,000 years. In my own personal tradition, Solstice is one of the most powerful times that you are able to slow down, connect to yourself, and really see things as they are.

  • Watch this video speaking about the cross-cultural power of Equinox and Solstice to hear more about this: The Power of the Equinox (and Solstice ) Alignments: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kn3ERhmbVhI&t=72s (While I focus more on Equinox in the video – the knowledge applies to both of these days – especially the bit about why connecting to Earth is more powerful for us during these windows.)

Solstice Activity for Grounded Self Connection

Make the most of Solstice by taking some quiet time today and over the next few days to check in with yourself. Here is a template for a ritual you can use to get your energy in order.

Where to do this

If at all possible, get outside and put your feet directly on the ground. Perhaps sit with your back against a tree or near a beloved lake or river. Nature is more powerful as a spiritual conductor during solstice. Connecting with it helps you to plug into that power and bring it into wha you are doing.

Not able to get outside? It’s alright!

Any space that you feel comfortable and safe in. This could be your backyard, on a favorite lake, sitting at the base of a tree, in your bedroom, in the bathtub, or any other place that you like hanging out.

The point is that you feel good about where you are. Have a pen and paper at hand.

How to do this

  1. Slow your breath: Begin by slowing down your breath—perhaps using a count of 4 to inhale, 5 to hold, 6 to exhale.
  2. Review the focus points: When comfortable and feeling calm, go through the affirmations and gratitude points below that make sense for you.
  3. Feel the words: Take a few moments with each one. Focus on what it feels like to say each point, and allow your creative mind and heart to be part of this process.

1. Affirmations for Alignment

  • I call forth and connect to the power of my soul.
  • I call forth a happy and healthy life and the strength to create mine, this season.
  • I call forth and connect to my soul spark and sacred essence.
  • I experience pure and clear self-connection.
  • I recognize my creative potential and feel confident to express it.
  • I enjoy life.
  • Add in any affirmations or calling points that are meaningful to you, this season.

2. Gratitude

  • I appreciate the power and potential of my life.
    • What else is going right in your life? What are you doing well? Who is showing up for you?*

3. Intentions (goals, aspirations, personal experiences)

Set your own goals for the season covering personal, professional, and spiritual life. Learning how to protect your field, starting a new business, and having cohesive relationships with your families are examples.

4. Soul, is there anything you want me to see right now?

Because solstice is more powerful Earth energy wise – the conditions for self-connection are enhanced. Taking time to do conscious self-connection activities like journaling and direct self engagement helps you to tune into that wisdom. Do it when you are in this space of grounded connection.

Closing the Ritual

When you are through, begin to prepare to release the process. Ground yourself back into solid awareness of the world around you. Touch the ground. Focus on your physical sensations. Allow yourself to anchor your intentions and gratitude with a few deep breaths.

Happy Solstice

Enjoy this beautiful transition from one season to the next. Spend extra time outdoors with family and friends. Honor what comes up to be seen. Plant the seeds for your ideal next season.
