For part 3 of the Empowered Empath: Sovereign Energy Series, I wanted to do something a little different. Today, I am going to tell you my story and how I went from being an absolute sponge of a mess to the empowered energy sensitive person I am today.
If you are reading this, chances are you know exactly what that “sponge” stage feels like.
- You feel like you are walking around without skin, picking up on every shift in the room.
- You can tell the exact second your partner or boss walks through the door in a bad mood, even if they haven’t said a word.
- You are tired of being told you are “too sensitive” or that you just need to have “thicker skin.”
Through the exact tips and information I share in this series, my classes and my sessions: I saved myself. The information I share with you today for part 3 of the series are the most important lessons I learned to save myself – which also always serve as an underlying thread in what you find in my method.
The Beginning
I was born an energy sensitive person but until I was in my mid-twenties – it was something that I barely paid attention to. A highly sociable person, I was always out dancing or leading community events. I was even able to hold down a PhD and the jobs to pay for it. Though I had always sensed energy and was aware of the spirit world – I kept it separate from day-to-day life (or at least I thought so at the time).
As I hit my mid-20s, things started to change. I started to find myself becoming uncharacteristically cranky in certain situations and would be snippy with people for no reason. One night I had to leave a concert because all the emotions of the people around me and the magnified sounds felt like a heavy cloak around my neck. I could not handle it!
I began experiencing sensitivity to light and technology that would lead to migraines. (Not great for a person writing a dissertation or teaching in online classrooms.) I would have an emotional hangover from meetings and paper grading sessions. I started to self-isolate and felt like a freak. I went from being outgoing and confident to being sick, tired, and struggling just to survive.
After one particularly rough week dragging through student marking, research, and trying to do my own work – I realized that I would have to do something about this because there was no way I could continue living in this misery that I felt.
I hit my rock bottom.
Then – from there – I experienced three highly valuable phases of self-discovery that took me from sponge misery to empowered empath.
